Killer profile
TheDeity
A late-round threat that grows the longer a game runs. Early on The Deity feels manageable; by the gate window it owns the crowded hall everyone is funneling through.
The Deity is the highest-skill ceiling in the Abyssal Escape roster. Against a team that does not communicate it looks unstoppable; against a called team it has the fewest free picks of any killer here.

How it pressures survivors
The Deity pressures the end of the round rather than the middle. Its threat scales with how much everyone has already committed to reaching the exit, so the very moment a team is most focused on escaping is the moment The Deity is strongest. This inverts the usual instinct. Against most killers you want to be done with objectives early and free to roam; against The Deity, finishing early just means waiting near the gate in a crowd it wants you to be part of. The pressure it exerts is a timing trap, rewarding survivors who spread out at the very point when the round is telling them to gather together.
Safe distance and angles
Spacing is safety, especially late. The Deity is least threatening when targets are isolated and spread across the map, and most threatening the instant survivors stack in one wide room with a single exit. Hold your distance from the group until the gate is genuinely open, then approach the exit from separate angles instead of pouring through one doorway. Avoid lingering in the hall directly outside the gate. Staging there feels like preparation but is exactly the formation this killer punishes.
How survivors should coordinate
Time the approach, not just the escape. Decide before the gate opens who moves first and from which side, so the exit is used in a stagger rather than a stampede. Keep at least one survivor away from the crowd as a fallback for a downed teammate, because a rescue attempted by everyone at once simply hands The Deity the clustered group it is scaling for. Stay patient through the early phases where the matchup is in your favor, and save your most careful spacing for the lockdown window where it is not.
Do not camp the gate
Waiting just outside the exit with the whole team is the one formation The Deity wants. Spread until the window is truly open, then enter from different angles.
Tip
Bank your strongest tools for the last phase. The Deity is forgiving early and brutal late, so spend nothing reckless before the gate just to feel safe.
Questions
Why does it feel weak early?
That is the design. The Deity scales with the round and with how tightly survivors cluster, so an open, spread early game is exactly its worst case.
Should we finish objectives fast?
Yes, but finish and then spread rather than finish and then gather. Racing to the exit as a crowd is how a strong early position turns into a bad late one.
How do you survive lockdown?
Stagger the entry, keep the group out of one wide room, and always leave one survivor free to handle a rescue. The escape rewards spacing more than speed.
Counter it
Because the threat concentrates at lockdown, the right tools are the ones you hold back for the gate: escapes that let a staggered survivor reach the exit alone, and sustain that survives a crowded final room. See the survivor ability page for tools worth saving, and walk the exit approaches on the how-to-escape guide so you know which angles keep you out of the cluster.
